Welcome to Casa Lumi – House Rules Dear Guest, Welcome to our beloved home, Casa Lumi! This is our primary residence and we only rent it out to a few guests a couple of weeks each year. A true labor of love, it took seven years to obtain the requisite planning permissions (protected area of natural beauty) and then complete construction. Please respect the following house rules when enjoying this unique property: 1. No Smoking or Vaping: Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited both indoors and outdoors. To give a sense of the risks, from mid-May to mid-September, gardeners are required by law to avoid using any engine-powered tools, because a single spark could ignite a wildfire in this area during the arid summer months. Non-compliance by guests will result in forfeiture of the full deposit. 2. Contact Mayara for Support: Our home has its own power plant, boreholes, water treatment plant (UV and reverse osmosis), waste treatment plant, and advanced domotics, the use of which may not be intuitive. For any questions or issues, please contact Mayara immediately—she is available all times of the day. 3. Conserve Water: With virtually no rainfall from May to September, the area turns very arid during this time and water is extremely precious. Our drinking-quality water is superb, but please use only what you need. 4. Air Conditioning & Windows: When using the AC during the day, keep external doors and windows closed to conserve energy. At night, if you choose to leave the windows in your bedroom open, please close the bug screens to avoid visits from local wildlife. 5. Pool: Mayara will show you how to operate the pool cover. Please close it each evening to prevent visits from local wildlife. 6. E-Bikes: The e-bikes in the shed are available for your enjoyment. Mayara will explain how to recharge them.
